Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By using Pathfinder ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Safety disclaimer

Pathfinder is a planning and navigation aid, not a safety guarantee. Off-road and backcountry travel is inherently dangerous. You are solely responsible for:

  • Assessing conditions before and during your trip
  • Carrying appropriate gear, emergency equipment, and communication devices
  • Decisions about whether to proceed on a given route

Do not rely solely on Pathfinder for navigation in areas without cellular coverage. Always carry a paper map or dedicated GPS device as a backup.

3. Map data accuracy

Map data in Pathfinder is sourced from OpenStreetMap contributors, the USGS, BLM, and other public agencies. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of this data. Trail conditions, road closures, and land-access rules change frequently. Always verify access status with the relevant land management agency before your trip.

4. Service as-is

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all liability for damages arising from your use of the Service.

5. Subscriptions and billing

  • Premium subscriptions are billed monthly via Stripe. Pricing is shown on the pricing page at the time of purchase.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled.
  • You may cancel at any time from your Stripe billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — no partial refunds are issued for unused time.
  • We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice to your registered email address.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Reverse engineer, scrape, or systematically download tile data from the Service
  • Use the Service to plan or carry out illegal activities, including trespassing or unauthorized motorized use of restricted land
  • Share account credentials with others
  • Attempt to circumvent feature restrictions or subscription enforcement

7. Account termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. If you believe a termination was in error, contact us at hello@pathfinderapp.com.

8. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the state of Colorado, USA, without regard to conflict of law principles.

9. Changes

We may update these Terms. We will notify registered users by email of material changes. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
